Yes. You can get a document notarized on a Sunday in New York, and you do not have to wait until Monday to arrange it. Notary Deliver takes appointments on Sundays between 9am and 5pm, either in person at your address or by secure video, and bookings are accepted 24/7 online or by phone. We typically respond within an hour.
That is the short answer. The longer answer is about why Sunday is awkward in the first place, and which of the two options — a mobile visit or a remote session — makes more sense for what you are signing.
Why Sunday is hard to solve the usual way
Most people’s first instinct is a bank branch or a shipping store. Both are poor bets on a Sunday.
Bank branches are commonly closed on Sundays altogether. Where a branch does open, notary service is usually offered as a courtesy to account holders by whichever member of staff happens to hold a commission — and that person may not be working weekends. Calling ahead helps, but a branch cannot always tell you in advance whether their notary will be on the floor when you arrive.
Shipping and print stores are a similar gamble. Sunday hours are often shorter, and the notary on the schedule may be a single employee. Turning up with a deadline and finding a handwritten sign on the counter is a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
There is also the problem the counter cannot solve at all: if the person who has to sign cannot travel — because they are in hospital, in a rehabilitation facility, in a nursing home, or simply not well enough to leave the house — then the branch being open is irrelevant.
Option one: a mobile notary comes to you
A mobile notary travels to wherever the signing needs to happen: a home, an office, a hospital room, a care facility, a hotel. On a Sunday this is usually the right choice when the signer cannot easily travel, when there are several signers in one place, or when the document has to be wet-signed on paper.
Base visits are priced by distance from Bronx County, starting at $85 in the Bronx and $95 in Manhattan, and each base visit covers coordination, travel and the first notarized signature. A weekend or holiday appointment adds $30. If you need it inside twelve hours, same-day service adds $25.
Option two: a remote online session
Remote Online Notarization is often the faster Sunday answer. You join a secure video call, your identity is verified on screen, and you sign electronically. Nobody travels, so there is no travel fee — sessions start at $25, and a session can usually be arranged within two hours.
It suits a signer who is comfortable with a phone, tablet or computer, and a document the receiving party will accept electronically. That last point matters more than people expect: some courts, registries and overseas authorities still want ink on paper. If you are not certain, ask whoever is receiving the document before you book.
Most notarial acts can be completed remotely, but a few instruments must be signed in person under New York law. Tell us what you are signing when you book and we will confirm which route works before you pay.
Which one should you choose?
- Signer cannot travel — mobile visit.
- Several signers in one room — mobile visit.
- Needs to be on paper — mobile visit.
- Signer is comfortable on video and the recipient accepts electronic documents — remote session.
- You need it in the next couple of hours — remote session is usually quicker.
- Signers are in different places, or different states — remote session.
What to have ready before Sunday
Whichever route you take, the appointment goes smoothly when three things are true.
- Valid, unexpired government photo ID for every signer. Not a photocopy, not an expired licence. This is the single most common reason an appointment cannot go ahead.
- Every signer present. A notary cannot notarize a signature for someone who is not there. If one signer is elsewhere, say so when you book so it can be planned around.
- Documents complete but unsigned. Signatures are made in front of the notary. A page signed in advance usually cannot be notarized, and sometimes the document has to be reprinted.
It also helps to know whether your document needs witnesses. Some do, and if you cannot supply them we can — $50 per witness.

One thing to know about Saturdays
We are closed on Saturdays. Appointments run Sunday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Bookings, though, are taken 24 hours a day — so if something lands on a Saturday morning, you can still book it then for a Sunday slot rather than waiting.
Frequently asked questions
Can you get something notarized on a Sunday in New York?
Yes. Notary Deliver takes Sunday appointments between 9am and 5pm, either as a mobile visit to your address or as a remote online session by video. Bookings are accepted 24/7.
Is it more expensive to use a notary on a Sunday?
There is a $30 weekend or holiday surcharge on top of the normal rate. A mobile base visit starts at $85 depending on distance, and a remote online session starts at $25.
Are banks open for notary services on Sundays in New York?
Usually not. Most branches are closed on Sundays, and where one is open the notary on staff may not be working that day. Notary service at a branch is typically a courtesy for account holders rather than a guaranteed service.
How quickly can a notary come on a Sunday?
We typically respond within an hour. A remote online session can usually be arranged within two hours; a mobile visit needs around twelve hours’ notice, and same-day service inside that window carries a $25 surcharge.
Can a notary come to a hospital or nursing home on a Sunday?
Yes. We visit homes, offices, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing and assisted-living facilities. Correctional facilities are possible by arrangement.
