Questions
Answers before you book
Is an online notarization legally valid?
Remote online notarization is authorised under New York State law. The completed document carries a tamper-evident digital certificate recording the session and the notary's credentials.
Do I have to be in New York?
No. The notary is commissioned in New York; you can join the session from anywhere, including outside the United States. What matters is where the notary is, not where you are.
What do I need for the session?
A computer, tablet or smartphone with a webcam and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Nothing to install — the session runs in your browser.
How early should I join?
Identity verification opens 15 minutes before your appointment, so join early. If you are not ready within 15 minutes of the scheduled time the session may need to be rescheduled and the deposit may be forfeited.
Can every document be notarized online?
Most can. A few instruments must be signed in person under New York law. Tell us what you're signing when you book and we'll confirm before you pay.
